NACFL Nursing Scholarship
The Nursing Action Coalition of Florida (NACFL) is dedicated to helping advance the RN to BSN, future BSN, and Graduate (Masters in Nursing, PhD in Nursing, DNP) student nurses in Florida. This scholarship provides financial support for individuals pursuing a BSN or graduate level (MSN, DNP, PhD.) education in nursing. The goal is to increase the number of BSN educated nurses in Florida and the support graduate level education in nursing to retain nurses to care for the people of Florida. The amount awarded is capped at $1,000 annually to one RN to BSN, future BSN and Graduate student.
Recipients of the NACFL scholarship are eligible to be considered for awards in subsequent years. The recipients must reapply and submit a complete application for consideration.
Selection Process
Students are selected for the scholarship in a three-step competitive process:
- NACFL Scholarship Review Committee will review each application to ensure applicant eligibility and completeness.
- The NACFL Scholarship Committee will review eligible applicants and determine awardees in three categories – RN to BSN, future BSN, and Graduate (Masters in Nursing, PhD in Nursing, DNP).
- The NACFL Scholarship Committee and the Chair, NACFL will approve the students selected.
All scholarship awardees are notified by phone call and email regarding the award. Recipients will be notified by May 5th of selection to receive the NACFL Nursing Scholarship Award. Payments are mailed directly to awardee. The recipient must express acceptance of the award in writing to NACFL. The awardee will be asked for permission to place the announcement on the NACFL website and provide a photo.
To apply you must meet the following criteria:
- Currently live in Florida and provide proof of residency.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited bachelor or graduate level nursing program.
- Demonstrate financial need.
- Obtain two recommendations – one from an employer and one from faculty/instructor.
- Provide an essay that tells NACFL why this scholarship is needed and what you plan to do with the funds. Include your professional goals in nursing. Keep the essay to 500 words or less.
After You Submit Your Application:
- After you submit your application, you will receive an automatic email from nursingactioncoalition@gmail.com Your submitted documents will be verified by the NACFL Scholarship Review Committee within two weeks of application submission. If any document is incorrect or missing information you will be contacted via email.
- All scholarship determinations are finalized by May 1st. You will be contacted via phone and email by May 5th with scholarship determinations.
- Payment will be via direct deposit from Big Bend Area Health Education Center (BBAHEC) You will be contacted by BBAHEC to complete direct deposit information for funding.
